Electric Charging Station and Electric Car Charge Point Lanarkshire from £280

Most hybrid vehicle owners opt to install an electronic charging station at home for both convenience and cost-saving. This allows them to charge the vehicle overnight when electricity rates are often lower or at their convenience. Wall box electric car points can give your car a full charge in just a few hours depending on the power of your supply which is available in 3kW, 7kW and 22kW. For example, a slow charger (3kW) which is the same as a three-pin supply, will take more than 12 hours to charge a more powerful charger will cut this time significantly to between one and six hours.

What type of Electric car charge point in Lanarkshire is best?

There are essentially three main groups of electric charging stations in Lanarkshire available level 1 – level 3, and they perform as follows:

Level 1 is the simplest type of charger and will be the one that comes with your vehicle from new. These will charge the car using your household electricity supply at 3kW. The benefits of a level one charger are that they are cheaper to install and simple to use. The downside is that they are the slowest type of electric vehicle charge point.

A level 2 electric charging station typically uses a 7kW power supply to facilitate faster charging. This is the most popular type of home electric charging station with domestic users.  EV vehicle users who opt for a level two electric charge point will need a professional installer like ourselves to come and run the supply to a convenient charging point on your property. This may be in your garage or on your driveway. Because of the extra work involved this option is costlier. However, the user will benefit from faster charging at home, more than halving the charging time compared to a level 1 charger. In addition, the cost or a substantial proportion of it may be covered under the latest government grant schemes.

Level 3 chargers are typically those you will find on commercial properties such as workplaces and public motor service areas. These use a much higher power supply and can cost upwards of £30K, but you can achieve a full charge in 1 hour. Due to the high power consumption and high cost of these units, they are only really suitable for commercial use where many vehicles may charge their car per day. The power supply available to domestic properties will not support a level 3 electric charging station.

A level 2 charger is the most cost-effective and convenient solution for any homeowner looking to install an Lanarkshire electric charging station on their property. Contact OBG EV for more information.
